Maintenance Technician 

Job Summary-Scope Property Management is searching for a motivated Full-time Technician to join our team and service our scattered site portfolio in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore region. This position provides general and specialized maintenance for occupied and unoccupied units. The right person will be responsible for checking, troubleshooting, and making routine repairs in the following areas: air conditioning, water heaters, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and other building maintenance areas. Our technician personnel will frequently work outdoors in all weather conditions, as well as in attics, crawl spaces, and other tight spaces depending on the project requirements. Must be a team player that demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.

RANGE OF PAY: 

Hourly (Non-exempt; eligible for over time) $22-28/hour 

JOB RESPONSIBILTY: 

Respond to service requests and perform repairs regarding numerous issues including but not limited to furnaces, HVAC, appliances, water heaters, garbage disposals, general plumbing, carpentry, and painting. 

Ability to prepare properties for occupancy including but not limited to painting, sanding and varnishing/floor tile removal and replacement, ceramic tile replacement, dry wall repair, fixture repair and/or replacement, floor stripping, waxing, and polishing, window repair and/or replacement, etc. Similar work as described above may also be required on property exteriors. 

Ability to work in scattered site environment 

Maintain grounds through trash management, landscaping, and snow removal 

Demonstrate strong communication skills for communicating with residents, co-workers, and senior management. 

Ability to attend and manage all Agency (i.e Housing Authority) Inspections and in-house inspections. 

Understand the proper use of equipment and chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). 

Ability to perform emergency assessments and repairs. 

Ensure that unsafe conditions and repairs are handled in a timely manner. 

Reliable and dependable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position. 

Complete all resident and site work orders in a timely manner 

Represent the community in a professional manner at all times-on/off property. 

Deliver communication documentation to residents. 

Ensures that unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner. 

Immediately report all unsafe conditions. 

Perform other related tasks as required. 
Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

High School diploma or GED 

1-3 years of related experience in residential maintenance. 

Basic familiarity with computers and tablets 

Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs 

Ability to speak and understand basic English 

Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision 

Have strong knowledge of building maintenance which includes the following trades/skills: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, or locksmith. 

Must have proof of a valid driver's license and clean driving history. 

Able to work outside in all weather conditions and perform physical work. 

Must be available to support 24hr maintenance hotline. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Trade school or college degree 

HVAC certification preferred 

Advanced skill in at least 2 trades (electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and carpentry, etc.)  

Maintenance Technician (EPA certification preferred) 

Physically capable of lifting 50lbs unassisted.
